Mississippi Plumbers

To become a plumber in Mississippi, you need to:

  • Obtain a contracting license. In order to do this, you are going to need to have your tax identification numbers from the state, three letters of reference, and have your application be heard before the state contracting board, which meets just once per quarter.
  • Pass a business and law exam. In order to obtain a plumbing license, the State of Mississippi requires that you prove your knowledge levels.
  • Provide a statement of net worth. In order to work as a plumber, you must have a net worth of at least $20,000.
Unlike other states, Mississippi does not require you to have documented work experience. If you can pass the knowledge exam, you can start work immediately... but this comes only after you've been approved to become a contractor.
