Here is the information that you need to know about the requirements for a plumbing license in North Dakota

To Become a Journeyman Plumber:

  • You must show evidence of either a four year apprenticeship program or 7,600 documented apprenticeship hours.
  • Pay the $25 exam fee and pass it successfully.
  • Purchase the $45 journeyman plumbing license, which is valid for one year.

To Become a Master Plumber:

  • Meet all of the requirements to be a journeyman plumber.
  • Work successfully as a journeyman plumber for two years.
  • Pay the $35 exam fee and successfully pass the exam.
  • Pay the $225 licensure fee that is good for one year.

Unlike other states, both journeyman plumbers and master plumbers are allowed to complete the same job duties under their license without any restrictions. Reciprocity agreements are in place with Montana, Minnesota, and South Dakota. Coming from another state, you will need to provide proof of your apprenticeship and then put in the two years as a journeyman to take the master plumber exam.
